Safety and Range Rules

Safety is everyone's responsibility. Review these rules before visiting the range.

Rules and range closures may change. Contact the clubhouse to confirm current policies before visiting.

Access and Sign-In

All visitors must sign in at the clubhouse. Guests must be accompanied by a member.

  • Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.

Firearm Handling

All firearms must be unloaded and cased when not on the firing line. Muzzle control required.

  • All firearms must be unloaded and cased when not on the firing line.
  • Maintain muzzle control at all times — never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
  • Actions must remain open when firearms are not in use on the firing line.

Targets and Prohibited Materials

No exploding targets, armor-piercing, incendiary, tracer rounds. Only approved targets.

  • No exploding targets of any kind.
  • Armor-piercing ammunition is prohibited.
  • Incendiary and tracer rounds are prohibited.
  • Only approved target materials may be used on ranges.
  • No glass, concrete blocks, or unapproved backstop materials.

Range Commands

Cease fire means cease fire. Follow all range officer instructions immediately.

  • When 'Cease Fire' is called, stop shooting immediately.
  • Make your firearm safe, step back from the firing line, and wait for further instructions.
  • Follow all range officer instructions without delay.
  • Anyone may call a cease fire if they observe an unsafe condition.

Emergency Reporting

Report all injuries and incidents to a club officer immediately. First aid kit locations posted.

  • In case of serious injury, call 911 first, then notify a club officer.

Cleanup and Maintenance

Pick up spent casings and clean shooting positions. Leave range cleaner than found.

  • Dispose of trash in designated receptacles.
  • Leave the range cleaner than you found it.

Protective Equipment

Eye and ear protection required for all persons on range at all times.

  • This applies to shooters, spotters, guests, and observers.
